Our Humble Beginnings (1975)

The story of Walter Duke + Partners began in 1975 when founder Bob Clobus, a University of Miami graduate and Vietnam veteran, established a small appraisal company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His vision was to provide reliable valuations that empower sound financial decisions.

Growth and Partnership (1980-2002)

The firm steadily expanded, welcoming Scott McLemore in 1980 and Walter Duke in 1985. With a shared passion for the industry, they became partners, leading to the company’s renaming as Clobus, McLemore & Duke in 1991. Walter Duke’s dedication earned him the prestigious MAI designation in 1990. By 2002, the firm had become a nationally recognized force in commercial appraisal.

Leadership and Evolution (2002-Present)

A new era began in 2002 as Walter Duke became president. Scott McLemore retired in 2010, with Walter Duke assuming sole ownership. Walter Duke’s commitment to the community extends beyond appraisal; he proudly served as a Dania Beach City Commissioner and Mayor. In 2015, the firm rebranded as Walter Duke + Partners, reflecting the company’s ongoing evolution.

  • 2015: Firm celebrates its 40th anniversary
  • 2017: Firm CFO Lisa Duke becomes an equity partner
  • 2021: Walter Duke recognized by Broward Workshop for exemplary work in affordable housing
  • 2023: Firm completes is 25,000th appraisal and expands its geographical reach outside of Florida
