The Issues

Honest and Effective Leadership

I believe it is the right of our citizens and business owners to receive honest, effective and responsive leadership from their local government.

I have successfully grown my local company to regional prominence by upholding my reputation for honesty and integrity. My firm and its talented associates are widely considered one of the most respected commercial real estate appraisal firms in the State of Florida. We accomplished this by adhering to our basic values: Serve our clients, tell them the truth and understand their needs.

As your city commissioner, I have brought that same honest straightforward approach to my public service. Since I was elected in 2009, I have served ethically and honestly. I have also provided much needed leadership and vision while fulfilling my campaign promises give it my best effort so to help re-vitalize our local economy bringing much needed jobs, and push forward initiatives to help clean up our town and local government with the goal of providing better municipal services to our residents and shareholders at a reasonable cost. I am happy to say that I have done all that. I have pushed for lower waste hauling costs, I helped transition our local fire department to BSO thus enhancing our resident's standard of delivery while saving millions of dollars and getting our local residents out of the unfunded pension business. I helped avert a costly solution to our water crisis in 2009 when we were seeking a city wide land use change to help better plan for our future and it was determined that our cities water permit was expired and our options were limited. I also supported the construction of our new library and have been steadfast in our fight to protect our airport impacted neighborhoods.

During my first term, we played catch up on many items without increasing ad valorem taxes while also keeping the city in good financial condition during these turbulent times. This is a critical time in our city's history and for its future. The decisions we make now will impact the lives of our children and grandchildren. Never has the need for true honest and effective leadership been so evident as right now in Dania Beach. Please join me in moving our city forward by casting your vote to re-elect Walter Duke to the Dania Beach City Commission.

I live, work and play in Dania Beach and I plan to spend the rest of my life here. I humbly ask that you allow me to keep my Commitment, Experience, and Judgment working for you on the Dania Beach City Commission and cast your vote to re-elect me on November 6th, 2012.

Thank you,
Commissioner Walter Duke
